This book is about the personal experiences with the unknown grand-daughter of Man O War, the greatest race horse in U.S. history. She was never known or raced because no-one expected her to live through a serious bout with pneumonia, when she was
just 3 months old.

As a result of this illness, she wound up nothing more than a family pet. A pitiful waste of magnificent horse flesh, as she clocked at over 38 mph and continuously maintained that speed for lengths of over 3 miles. Had she ever been trained and raced, I believe she would have stepped gracefully into her grand-father’s footsteps in history.

I knew the family who brought her home and nursed her to health. Her life, although pleasant for the first few years, took a turn when she was about 4 years old, which ruined her health but then later rescued. A family pet, her name was simply ‘Winnie’.

The book revolves around the lives of two young girls but the heart is ‘Winnie’s’ untold story
